چکیده

these patients, in general, have a more aggressive form of disease (2, 28, 29). Most patients have lymphoblasts that lack identifiable surface markers. Thus, the subcategories of acute Iymphocytic leukemia in humans probably repre sent proliferation of different clones of lymphoblasts. There are known differences in glucocorticoid susceptibility among functional subcategories of lymphocytes in mice (24, 27, 31, 32). We therefore assayed lymphoblasts for a variety of surface markers and then examined lympho blast populations with known characteristics for differ ences in specific cyhoplasmic GA activity and responsive ness as a function of these various surface markers.

Glucocorticoid Receptors in Childhood Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia1

Glucocorticoid receptor levels were quantitated in leukemic blasts from bone marrow aspirates of 174 children with acute lymphocytic leukemia. Using a whole-cell assay, we found that [3H]dexamethasone binding had the following characteristics: (a) reached a steady state in 30 min at 22°and was stable for at least 2 hr; (o) was linear with cell number between 1 and 6 x 106 cells/assay; (c) was ...

Glucocorticoid Receptors and in Vitro Responses to Glucocorticoid in Acute Nonlymphocytic Leukemia1

Early clinical studies in which glucocorticoids were used alone in the treatment of acute nonlymphocytic leukemia (ANLL) reported a wide range of responses from remission in some patients to dramatic aggravation of the disease in others. In the hopes of identifying those patients likely to derive ther apeutic benefit from glucocorticoids, we have studied glucocorticoid receptors and in vitro re...

Clinical implications of glucocorticoid receptor studies in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

We have performed in parallel, in 19 children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a quantitative determination of glucocorticoid levels, in vitro steroid induced inhibition of nucleic acid precursors, and a short-term clinical trial of corticosteroids alone, before the treatment was given, which included corticosteroids and other drugs. From our results it appears that high glucocorticoid recept...

O 17: Childhood Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis

Anti N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDR) encephalitis has been recognized as the most frequent autoimmune encephalitis in children after acute demyelinating encephalomyelitis (ADEM).However due to the variable the variable clinical presentation, the paucity of specific finding on standard laboratory and radiological investigation remains under recognized. First discribed in 2005, most commonly...
